The Emulator genre includes games that were released quite some time ago on a platform that is now outdated. Such games do not always receive remakes or HD editions; sometimes, the original game (or a collection) is released on a new platform without porting. An emulator of the old platform is integrated into the game to simplify the task for programmers and enhance the nostalgic feelings for the player.
